Datacom Systems NSW (Datacom) today announces it has acquired Hansen Professional Services Pty. Ltd., the NSW based IT outsourcing and facilities management arm of Hansen Technologies Limited (ASX: HSN), for $10.5 million.

The purchase sees Hansen Professional Services’ Sydney data centre and its team of 75 systems support professionals integrated into Datacom’s NSW IT services business.

Through the acquisition Datacom inherits a strong client base in the financial services sector, including ING Bank, ACCU and Combined Financial Processing Limited and adds $20 million to its Australia/Asia revenue. 80 percent of the acquired income will come from existing annuity contracts.

Hansen Professional Services’ North Ryde data centre is Datacom’s third ‘n+1 redundant’ facility in Australia. Its addition strengthens the company’s DR and BCP offerings and reaffirms Datacom’s network design/deploy/support, service desk and system management focus.

Michael Browne, Datacom Australia/Asia’s CEO, comments that the opportunity to rapidly scale Datacom’s outsourcing business is the driving factor behind the acquisition. “This deal brings with it a material addition to our deployable resources in the NSW facilities management and managed services space.

“Beyond providing existing clients with another state of the art facility to house and manage their critical infrastructure and applications, this purchase gives us a needed increase in skilled personnel to ensure we can meet the strong growth in market demand we continue to experience.”

Datacom’s combined NSW IT services team now has 170 staff. The company plans to relocate its NSW Systems business from Talavera Road North Ryde to Julius Avenue in Riverside Corporate Park, where Hansen Professional Services has been based for the past several years.
